In the ancient wisdom of the Vedas, the Sun God Surya does not traverse the sky alone. His chariot is pulled by seven celestial horses—each a living embodiment of the sacred Vedic metres (Chandas).
This latest work from the Ashva Series explores Tristup, the powerful horse representing the 44-syllable rhythm of strength and cosmic order.
In this painting, I wanted to move beyond the physical form of the horse and tap into the "Slow Art" philosophy—capturing the meditative energy of a divine journey.
In traditional Indian iconography, such as the carvings at Konark, these horses are shown in a dynamic gallop. Here, I have focused on "Painterly Realism", blending anatomical power with an ethereal, dreamlike atmosphere to invite the viewer into a personal, spiritual experience.
When we look at the sun, we aren't just seeing light; we are witnessing the oldest rhythm in existence.
